1) Attached is Dale’s Lake, made with AAE Lake & Tree decal and dichro.

2) Here’s what’s different: This was a custom piece designed in memory of a family friend. He passed away this year, and there is a bit of cremate remains embedded along the shore of the lake within the glass. Dale fought a long courageous battle with Cancer, and swam “his” lake on a regular basis, so when I saw your Lake decal online, it was an immediate match for his wife’s pendant. She indeed adores this piece, and I make custom pendants for others.

3) Having used many decals in my glass work, I find that AAE’s do several things that others do not. One, they inspire creativity. I find that I design my pieces around your decals, often nipping and combining different decals together that are complimented by glass. Also, the quality is unsurpassed. I’ve made my own, used others, and the depth of your enamel is outstanding. Lastly, the low fire schedule makes these easy to use. Unlike some other decals, they work every time with great results.

I have been working with stained glass for about 15 years, and fused glass for about three years. Glass is my passion and my addiction.

About three years ago, my four sisters and I began our own "Sisters' Day". Each year, we remember and honor each other with a gift. I created this poem for them. I mounted it in the fused frame I made with your "Tree of Life" decal. It is my favorite AAE Glass decal, (although there are so many beautiful ones).

I have made wine stoppers, key chains, purse hangers, necklaces, plant pokes and frames with your decals. They are so easy to use, and always turn out beautiful. The detail on your decals is amazing. I always look forward to new ones you come up with. I also have used your silver settings for some of my projects. These settings are very nice quality, and make a project look so professional.

BE FUSED HOT GLASS

This is a fairly large pendant using glassline paints, 1/2 of the 'breakage' decal in black and the sea (jelly fish and bubbles) white decals.

The paint technique was 'picked up' when Tanya did a class at Vitrum in Beltsville.

As a full time glass artist, I enjoy making jewelry, functional work and glass art. The recent jewelry class with Tanya has greatly expanded my techniques with 'painterly' touches, including the use of decals. These decals can create mini landscapes, add a touch of humor or add a bit of depth to my piece. They have been very easy to use.

I live in Saudi Arabia and was fortunate enough to be home in Denver, Colorado when you held your Extreme Fusing 1 class at Bella Glass studios last summer. I will be back in Denver again this coming summer to hopefully take the Extreme Fusing 2 class. I love everything I learned from Tanya. Her creativity and enthusiasm is infectious. I have used her decals on many pieces with great results and sales.

I am including a photo of a bowl I created, using the eye decal, that I sold at the annual craft shows here. As you can imagine it was a hit with the expats here! I hope you enjoy it.

INTRIGUE ART, LLC

Because we all have so many necklaces, I decided to use little painted frames and easels and have made small landscape art for desks or small spaces; one for each season. If a person wants to have a bail added, I include that with a little tube of E6000. They have been well received, and make great gifts.

I love working with the new techniques and decals. The Extreme class that you taught was so informative and fun. As a result of the excitement of learning a new trick, I purchased a kiln and have been making and making and selling beautiful dichroic, layered, decaled items since then. I love to cut the decals apart and make different scenes out of them. I always photograph my raw work because it takes on such a different look after being fired, and I can remember how I assembled the pieces to start with. To me this is exciting.

The landscapes were used firing down and three firings before the cold work. Then decals were applied and put back in the kiln for the final process. I am amazed at how much more professional my work looks and how much fun I am having “breaking out of the box”.

Brief summary of your piece, your business and/or you yourself.

I love this pendant. The colors are so vibrant and the piece allowed me to use several techniques I learned at the Extreme Fusing Workshop held in Denver, CO in July 2011. The pendant incorporates dichroic glass, hand blended frit and paint as well as an AAE Glass screen printed enamel. I felt that this design worked so perfectly with the vibrant red background. You know how there is always one piece you create that you fall in love with and can never sell - well this one is it for me!

In July 2011, I took Tanya's Extreme Fusing Workshop in Denver. This is the best class that I have ever taken and nothing can compare with the information on fusing that Tanya is willing to share. The classes are high paced and action packed and allow your imagination to run wild playing with different colors and themes. It is always interesting to see what your classmates create as well - so much imagination in one room! In August 2011, I participated in the Fairplay Colorado Bead and Fiber Show. My "Pelican" fused glass pendant placed 3rd in the juried competition for Jewelry/Wearables.

In 2008, I took a class on how to make lampwork beads and it just seemed like a natural progression to get involved in another glass art form and fusing was it! I retired in May 2010 and this allowed me the freedom to pursue my love of glass on a full-time basis. To me it is always exciting to go to the kiln first thing in the morning and discover what wondrous magic has evolved over night. Some days are better than others, but that is the beauty of this art form - you are always learning and discovering new things and what works best together.

I created my business, BluDragonfly in 2010 and participate in local art and craft fairs in Northern Colorado and Denver. I also started up an Etsy website to sell my fused glass jewelry. After all, there are only so many pendants one person can wear! One of the thrills and challenges of listing a fused glass pendant on my Etsy website is coming up with a name that best suits the design and character.

I belong to the Rocky Mountain Flameworkers organization. We are a group of glass artists who meet once a month to discuss our new projects, share ideas and compete in challenges to expand our creativity and talents. I am a Self Representing Artist (SRA #W126) and I love how my fused glass pendants are a One Of A Kind (OOAK). No two are ever alike and why would you want them to be?!

My name is Phyllis and I'm a glass artist in Miami, Florida. I've been working with and loving glass for about 10 years now!

This piece measures 8" x 7" not counting the stand and it's my first time working with the larger decals. I started off firing this piece for a full fuse upside down and then turned it right side up and added some more glass and trimmed it. Then I fired it again for much less time so there would be some depth to the look. I then added three different decals and fired it one more time...here is the result!

I have taken 2 Extreme Fusing classes with Tanya and she is an excellent teacher! I am signed up to go to her studio (AAE Glass) in Cape Coral for the David Alcala class in April and I can't wait! I always liked my glass fusing creations but I am madly in love with everything I make now that I have learned from Tanya!!! She is so passionate about her art and shares that with her students. I am so lucky to be part of that!! Her decals are top quality and fuse beautifully!

Oh, and this past holiday season was my most successful, thanks to my teacher/mentor/friend, Tanya!

FUSED ELEGANCE GLASS JEWELRY

I wanted to show you what I made with several of your decals. It is a freestanding curved panel with a light behind it. I used AAE large tree decals and AAE normal black and white butterflies and dragonfly decals over blue streaky fused to white glass. Also if you look at the bottom I tack fused green glass.
I have been fusing glass for about 2 years. I took my first class and fell in love. Since that first class I've been lucky enough to take Extreme Fusing 1 with Tanya at her visit to Denver and Extreme Fusing 2 at AAE Studios in Cape Coral Florida. I loved both classes and can't wait until EF3! I've used almost every decal Tanya has created, they are so amazing. I love how they are raised and you can see so much detail. I've also used Tanya's silver settings, very beautiful and elegant.
Thank you Tanya for sharing your passion and knowledge with me! I love every technique you've taught me and I enjoy combining them to one another.

EYE CANDY GLASS ART

I've included a pendant that I was quite happy with. The idea came from a photo of some elephants crossing the savana while the sun was going down. A big, bright yellow sun. You could see the elephants' silouette against it.

My name is Kristi Jones. I am from Tampa Bay, FL. This is one of my favorite creations using AAE decals. The simplicity alone gives you that "warm heart" feeling. I have been fusing glass for about 5 years now. Other than beginner fusing and lampwork classes, I am self-taught. I am always searching for new and exciting ideas and products to improve my skills. So far I have not been successful in creating the exquisite layered effects that I see on the AAE website gallery. However the AAE products that I have purchased: decals, glass settings, and frit, have been amazing to work with and have added great flair to my work. The owl nightlight has received a very favorable response in my ETSY shop.

LeFil d'Ariane

My name is Geneviève Cloutier and I am the owner of the boutique LeFil d'Ariane. After a long period of self-education, I began to work with glass (fused glass and lampwork). Since discovering this fascinating material, I have constantly been on the lookout for new techniques and ideas.

This search led me to try new forms and to play with the transparency of glass, as on this pendant. Three firings were needed before the cold working, then one more for the fire polishing and a final firing to attach the decals. I am very proud of the result, fishes seems to swim between rocks!

I particularly like the AAEGlass decals on account of their quality as well as the incomparable service I have always had from this company. These decals allow me to create unique pieces, and my customers love them! I like to cut up the ready-made scenes and create new ones by combining the different models.

SPECTACULAR NORTHERN LIGHTS - FUSED GLASS PANEL ( By Debra Nuckolls)

The inspiration for my fused glass panel started with AAE Glass's large decals and viewing some spectacular northern lights images. This panel was kiln pressed for the watercolor technique seen in the northern lights sky. The panel was coldworked and then topped with clear glass and full fused. The decals were applied and fired for a permanent finish.

I attended Tanya's Extreme fusing class in Chicago last year. Tanya is a wonderful, outstanding and inspiring teacher. Be sure to read her blog for news and information on fusing techniques. Can't wait for new decal designs! Everything I have ordered from Tanya's website has shipped fast and is outstanding.

DICHROIC GLASSWORKS

This is a fused dichroic glass pendant using the Pelican decal. I created the sunset by fusing several different pieces of dichroic glass onto a dark pink glass base, then fusing clear glass over it.

My name is Anna Blair, I'm a retired High School art teacher and life long artist. I live close to a lake in Fort Worth, Texas with my husband, two cats and a menagerie of wild animals (mostly raccoons, possums, a few feral cats, and an occasional fox or coyote) that I feed in the evening. The raccoons have never gotten aggressive and take food out of my hand. Some have even brought their babies to show us...(as you can probably tell, I'm an animal/nature lover).

I have several online shops- Artfire, Etsy, Ruby Plaza, Ruby Lane, & Zibbet. I love working with glass, it's fun to open the kiln and see what has transpired eight hours earlier! Sort of a mini-Christmas!

Updated Firing Instructions for Large Decals

You may have noticed a different firing schedule for the new large decals. We wanted to point out the differences below. Thank you for all the great feedback!

Firing instructions for glass fusing decals

Application Instructions:

Clean the glass surface where the decal will go.
Remove any wax paper barrier, if any, from the decal surface.
If desired, cut decal to desired shape using xacto knife or scissors.
Soak the decal in a shallow pan of warm water until they easily slide off the paper. It is easier to apply decal directly from the paper to the glass piece. Leaving them in water too long will result in them floating off the base paper and it will be difficult to apply.
Use a paper towel to blot excess water and gently smooth out any wrinkles or air bubbles. If air bubbles are not gently rubbed out, a tiny hole will pop through the decal when fired.
Change water frequently after soaking several decals to remove impurities.
ALL MOISTURE MUST BE REMOVED PRIOR TO FIRING. OVERNIGHT DRYING IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Firing Instructions:

Preheating is particularly important in decal work. Materials from the medium on the decal must be burned off gently. Good ventilation allow for a clean final product. Leave the kiln lid open 1-2 inches, plus any peepholes. Preheat slowly to 1000 degrees to prevent pinholes or blisters and then procede with normal ramping. Heat-soak the decals at top temperature for approximately 8-10 minutes. THE FIRING SCHEDULES PROVIDED ARE FOR A REFERENCE POINT ONLY! GET TO KNOW YOUR KILN! Need additional assistance? David Alcala of FXN Glass is a glass artist that needs no introduction. Tanya and I were lucky enough to meet David earlier this year and are honored to call him a friend. His unique talent and experience combine to make him a leader in the glass world. David lives and owns a studio in Monterey, California. He shares the same passion as AAE Glass when it comes to always expanding our glass knowledge and bringing as many glass artists along for the ride as possible!

When meeting David for a few days this summer, we were able to discuss goals and how to achieve them. Tanya and David talked for hours on how to utilize each others talents to help grow their own. They shared both experiences and products with each other to "play" with. The results have been tremendous. If you ever have a chance to meet David, or better yet, learn from David, I highly recommend you take advantage.

AAE Glass recently had the pleasure of hosting Joyce Sheehan of Melt Your Heart Glass in an Extreme Fusing II class. Joyce brought great energy and soaked up knowledge like a sponge. Joyce has been a long time friend of the business and the only thing that outweighs her talent is her generous heart. Joyce helps so many people in need when she isn't making jewelry that we want to support her to the fullest. Joyce travels to Nepal and Africa to help the local people in need. After working with glass for 6 years, I found glass fusion 2 years ago. I took Tanya Veit's class in August and found it priceless. My proudest moment was when a piece of my jewelry sold in a store in Pokhara, Nepal. I am an OR nurse and travel the world helping those in need in third world countries and do glass fusing to keep out of trouble. I grew up in a small town and live in that same town today. I was born into a loving family of 7. I was married at the ripe age of 21 and had a son by the age of 23. They are the rocks of my life. My husband and son work together building homes and other various construction jobs.
I have been doing some form of craft since I learned hand and eye coordination. My mom used to try to throw things away and I would pull them back out of the garbage and make things out of them. First it was making doll furniture out of egg cartons or whatever I could get my hands on to make that doll house look great. Seems funny today!! As I got older I have loved several crafts such as: woodworking, flower arranging, rubber stamping, scrapbooking, polymer clay jewelry and finally, glass jewelry.
I first began by stringing beads together, but I wanted to be different. I did not want to be a designer of just putting beads together. I figured if I designed the beads, my jewelry would always be different. So, I began with Polymer clay; they were definitely different!! No two pieces were exactly alike.....but I could not get them to shine..tried many things, but nothing satisfied me. So, I went to a place in New York (50 miles) from my home; called Corning Glass. I became a member the same day!! I was so excited about glass and the beauty of it all.......I just fell in love with everything and anything made with glass. I did sit down and make one bead with their instruction and it was great fun and could not stop imagining all the different ways to form the glass to make beads and much more.
I started buying books and more books and then embraced the internet for things I could not find in books. After about a year, I felt comfortable with my first purchase of a torch to make glass beads. With the books near my side, I began to melt glass in the flame and in forms that I have to this day because they were so bad!! LOL!! Just keeping the glass on the mandrel was a chore. After many hours and days of practice, I got pretty good. A year later, I was placing an order through one of my glass vendors and I asked him if he had a minute to talk about glass. He asked me if I had ever heard of glass fusing, "Glass Fusing" what is that? We discussed it for a bit and before I knew it, I was buying every book I could find on fused glass.
My husband during this whole process would keep asking me, "Is this still a hobby?" LOL!! Currently today, I am still scrapbooking, making beautiful cards and floral arrangements for stores locally. Oh, I was also working full time through all of these years. So, I think I was working to pay a few bills and buy any craft items needed, but having the time of my life.
Finally after all the reading and research, I purchased my first kiln and began another era of trail and error glass. Still have a few of those pieces as well. Even today some of the glass I put together does not become the masterpiece I had hoped for, and then it turns around and surprises me the next batch. But today I have my own website as you can see and I am currently selling at the Settlement House in Sylvania, PA; Country Cafe in Sayre, PA; Bearly Enough in Mansfield, PA, PA North Country Artisan in Towanda, PA and Corning Glass in Corning, NY!!! Very excited about Corning Glass!!! Funny I fell in love with glass while looking at all the wonders of glass in their showroom and now I am an artist in that very same showroom. What a dream come true!
Currently I am reaching out to other states. I currently do a list of craft and art shows, home shows and thoroughly love seeing and talking to people about glass. A list of my shows are shown on this website. Just go to my "Show and Events" calendar. My customers love the dicrhroic glass especially!! As I talk to people at these shows, I am reminded of all the cheap glass that is coming into this country. I do not know how they do it so cheap, I cannot. But of course they sell thousands of the same pieces.
That brings me to my final paragraph. My pieces are one of a kind. You will not find them anywhere else. Nowhere!! You may see a similar piece, but never the same. The glass forms it's own beauty. You will benefit from thousands of compliments on your glass jewelry because of it's mysterious look. Dichroic glass is just stunning to see in the sunlight. Many of my return customers tell me they have received so many compliments on the pieces they have purchased.
In closing, thank you for stopping in and I hope to meet you some day or I just might see one of my designs about your chest or a ring on your finger or a set of earrings that you just can't help but notice. So, I will say "Thank you" now an tell you that my dream is to be walking down the street someday and notice one of my designs coming toward me. Thanks again!!

Growing up in the heart of Amarillo brought tough times and real experiences for Christian Luginger. He knew art moved him and felt a strong calling but wasn’t sure how he was artistically. After watching Dale Chihuly on PBS, it clicked and glass was his new love. He realized he needed to escape in order not to become a part of the large negative stastitics of life in the streets. In 1999, Christian journeyed from Amarillo, Texas to Boulder, Colorado in order to study offhand and lampworked glass as an apprentice and student in various studios. To mature as a glass artist, with a mission to bring the knowledge back to Amarillo, he began seeking prolific professional artists to hone his craft. He wanted to share and educate his friends and neighbors who might be in need of an expressive outlet.

Christian sees art as a healing mechanism and therapy. People can make connections on so many levels, and then relate, appreciate, and express themselves more effectively. Enjoyment of being outside in nature, glass, independent studies, and the daily motivation he receives from our great God helps him to remember that each of us has a bright light that needs to shine in some way or another and to discover it. We were all created from sand and breath, and we are all hollow vessels at times that are cracked and in need of healing and fire.

Every class experience through his travels has deeply and uniquely affected his life and the way he shares his work. He is no longer the student, but the teacher. Christian now develops his own teaching and mentoring abilities by holding private lessons in his studio. He receives feedback from students, so that he may understand how to better communicate his art to others.

Artist Statement

Glass brings balance for me and our world in many ways. It helps me align my mind, body, and spirit, and it interrelates art, history, mathematics, and science. The world we live in is a gateway from old to new, from renaissance to fiber optics and so on. Glass has been a positive influence on all the growth, change, and new technology we use every day.

My work has transcended into an art of history, portraying how pieces developed 500 years ago can still be reproduced today while designing and expressing personal feelings. Through study of history, religion, and training in Aikido I developed a deep interest and respect for ancient and modern peoples lives and practices. Japanese, Celtic, Egyptian, and South American symbols along with Venetian, European renaissance styles and historical vessels have all heavily influenced my work and life. Dancing with this medium is challenging and relates to a living artform with motion, but glass art is also blood, sweat, and tears, with only one shot at perfection. You may work most of the day, but it only takes one wrong move to lose it all. You cannot just erase or paint over it. You have one shot…

I primarily use borosilicate, colored tubes, rods, and dichroic. I work with traditional hand tools, and use an oxygen propane mixed torch for achieving blown and sculptural work with the glass itself. I also practice cold-working techniques for producing my jewelry and other pieces. I am member of the Glass Art Society, which is an organization devoted to exposing others to the wonders of glass. It is a powerful tool and resource. In this ever-growing industry, as I must always remain up-to-date about products, trends, and business development. I juggle the rising costs of materials and energy, maintaining positive creativity, staying organized and keeping my team flowing.

The people I have met in the glass world have been great and talented individuals, which I feel blessed to know. Dreams and careers such as mine can come true. It's an opportunity daily working with the glass, friends, family, and the circle of artists who give their lives to it. Glass has changed my life for the better, and allowed me to lead others in a positive direction. My involvement with local charities and international donations allows me to give back and ensure future generations the chance to express themselves constructively and continue the art of glass.

ART GLASS IN ART GLASS

My name is Mark Veit with AAE Glass and we had the honor and the pleasure of being a sponsor for the first time to the Art Glass Association and their initiative know as “Art Glass in Art Class.” This program took the association to 4 different locations across the country (Kentucky, Wisconsin, Florida and Michigan) and exposed several local teachers and schools to the world of glass art. In doing so, they were able to communicate how easy and cost effective it is to offer glass art classes to students of all ages. I took a trip up the west coast of Florida to St. Petersburg in order to see the association in action.

What I saw was amazing! Of the 30 or so booths at the convention, the Art Glass Association was 3 deep with people wanting to make a glass pendant on site. With the help of several volunteers in the glass world, they were able to present glass art in an extremely positive way. As I stood watching the faces of teachers coming back to pick up their pieces after they were fired, I was impressed that every single person had an enormous smile and they all wore it out of the convention. Honestly, 90% of the people at this convention were wearing glass pieces and to top that, they were stopping each other and asking questions about how they got the effect they did on their piece. The awareness that the Art Glass Association brought to thousands of teachers was more than impressive.

AAE Glass shares many of the same beliefs as the Art Glass Association. We believe in getting glass art of any kind in front of as many young people as possible. It is a way to strengthen the industry as a whole. If we can get glass art in schools and have children learn at a young age, we are cultivating future glass artists. Those of us in the business know the joys of glass art because we have been around it for so long, lets share that same passion with as many people as possible. You never know when the next world renowned glass artist, who is currently in 7^th grade, will come about. They need to be exposed to glass art sometime...Why not now!

Steve Shupper made me aware of the AGA during a convention in Omaha, Nebraska earlier this year and I am glad he did. AAEGlass will be a supporter of theirs from here on out. The AGA is the largest association in the world dedicated to the business of art glass. It was founded in 1986 and is an international non-profit organization. To learn more about the ArtGlassAssociation, please visit their website HERE. I encourage everyone to learn about this great organization and support them any way you can. Even if it is just spreading the word, any help is appreciated.

I want to recognize the volunteers I met in St. Petersburg and their shops. They worked very hard to make sure everyone knew what they were doing as well as answering numerous questions. These people are all willing to help spread the word of glass art and are willing to share their studios with anyone who wants to learn.

I have recently had the pleasure to view Jerry's glass work and converse with him via email and I have to say, it some of the best I have ever seen. He combines music, fun and glass to create some very unique glass art. The list of people who own a Jerry Keller glass piece is very impressive. Paul McCartney and Michael Jordan are just the beginning. Living in Cleveland, Ohio and near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Jerry's work fits right in. Music has always helped create my dance with art. From saxophone, to guitar, percussion, to singing, the essence of sound has helped inspire my designs. So one logical sequence in my visual thread, was to pay homage to the form of the instrument itself. Being in Cleveland, home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, helped to nurture the series - theglass guitar.

Since around 1996, when I created four painted wood guitars for my son to rollerblade with in our Art Museum parade, the form of the guitar has seemed to blossom in many incarnations.
From paintings to hand-painted guitars, computer graphic renderings, to guitars made solely from glass, this instrument has challenged and focused my attention. All this, while being a life-long saxophone player! Ah, the dichotomies of life...(but yes, saxophones do surface in the glass series, also...)

After years of exploring this loaded form, and 38 years in the glass field, I find new inspirations almost daily with which to create these visual inspirations.

The guitars are a fun diversion from my usual fare of stained, etched, and cast glass windows, doors, and tables. I also create glass and metal sculpture, and work on several high end Corporate Awards that include both casting, etching, and metal materials. AAE Glass would like to update you on our progress and what we are doing to better serve you. First off, a huge thank you to everyone who has wished us well and supported us as we have grown at a tremendous pace these past few years. We are here because of you and it is you we are here to serve. It goes to show that customer service, fresh knowledge and innovative products are in high demand. Myself and Tanya always strive to answer your questions personally, in a timely manner and we ask you to bear with us as we spend the next 2 weeks opening our studio and hosting anyone and everyone who would like to stop by and say hello. We would be happy to spend time with you while you pick our brains and we pick yours.

While we are opening the studio, we ask that all emailers be patient for answers as our time is being spent making the best teaching facility available to the glass community. Not only are we offering glass classes, but we are going to offer classes for artists of all mediums. Canvas painting, faux finishing, metal work and beyond! When you see the artwork on the walls of our studio, your jaw is going to drop, it is that simple. It is my job to convince our muralists to teach classes in our studio and I won't take no for an answer. They are so talented and have such a passion for what they do that it would be criminal for them not to share it with those who want to learn. We have been working tirelessly the past few weeks to make sure we have the best equipment available for you to use as we expand our Extreme Fusing series of classes. We have had 100 sign ups for beginner classes, X1 and X2 in 3 weeks time! This is all Tanya Veit! If you have had the opportunity to take a workshop with Tanya, you know what kind of energy and passion she brings every single day. She could be teaching algebra and people would want to come back for more! She blows my mind sometimes...Most of the time!

The Extreme series of glass classes is here to stay and Cape Coral, Florida is the place to learn. Hello glass artists. My name is Mark Veit and I am lucky enough to work with my sister-n-law Tanya Veit, as well as glass artists around the world. Her glass art speaks for itself and her willingness to help other glass artists speaks even louder. But this blog post is about me getting something off my chest.

For those who don't know me, I am very analytical and straight forward, I can thank my father for that. It gets me in trouble sometimes, but more often than not, it gets the job done. I pride myself on being as efficient and productive as possible. For whatever reason, I have been inundated with emails and phone calls from glass artists these past few days claiming that our decals have been losing shape and the color has been fading. Of course I reached out to Tanya for her expertise and after asking the glass artists to send me pictures of the decals they are using, low and behold, NONE of the decals are AAE Glass decals. I kid you not, ZERO were AAE Glass designs. Still my phone keeps ringing and my email box keeps filling with these questions.

Now many companies are trying to"duplicate" AAE Glass designs because we have the best selling designs on the market, not to mention Tanya Veit creates these designs herself. Our "competition" is trying to produce similar cats and sea life, but with uneven whiskers and goofy bodies, don't get me started on those companies trying to copy the TREE OF LIFE decal that Tanya Veit created from scratch. You just aren't going to get the same detailed design with the same superior screen printed images anywhere but AAE Glass. These knock offs are digitally printed and can not hold a candle to any AAE Glass decal. Sure our decals may cost a few more pennies, but do you want to go through 4 or 5 cheap decals before you get the image you are looking for, when 1 AAE Glass decal will do? Not to mention AAE Glass offers superior customer service, not just in the glass industry, but business in general. Where else can you send an email to a company and have the owner of that company, who is also a world renowned glass fuser, personally answer your questions? This is what AAE Glass is about. A wise man once told me, if you take care of your customers, your customers will take care of you ten fold. The old man was right!

Remember, I like to nip things in the bud and that is exactly what I am going to do right now!

If you are using any decal that is fading or losing shape, you are not using an AAE Glass decal. If you look back to a few posts ago, I explained why AAE Glass decals are the best on the market, BAR NONE! If you haven't read, please take a look HERE. I am going to expand on that statement. I haven't run this past Tanya yet, so please keep it quiet, but here goes...If you are struggling with digitally printed decals of scenes that look like they are being copied, STOP IT! Send me your inferior decals and I will replace them with AAE Glass decals for nothing more than the shipping cost. We consider ourselves leaders in the industry and will stand behind our product 100%. Not only do we provide the best decal on the market, we want to expose you to these decals for FREE. Even if it costs us a few bucks to replace your inferior decals, we are 100% confident that you will never use anything less than an AAE Glass decal from here on out.

What Sets AAE Glass Decals Apart?

NEW LARGER DECAL DESIGNS

First off, we want to thank all of our loyal glass fusers for their continued support and use of AAE Glass products. We listen to what you need to expand your businesses and provide high quality products to ensure you are working with the best.

There are several fusing decals on the market today and we wanted to take the time to point out why our decals are different and superior to other decals commercially available. We receive several e-mails each week from glass fusers asking for our help when the decals they have purchased from other manufacturers turn gray after firing, are not vibrant, look faded or eventually rub off.

It is important to understand the difference between a digitally printed and a screen printed decal. Our glass fusing decals are low fire, enamel and created using an advanced screen printing process. Did you know it takes 5-6 weeks to make ONE design? Each design contains 8 layers of enamel and requires a drying time of 72 hours between each layer applied in the stencil design. The machine used for this process is a lithograph machine, not a laser computer printer. Did you know you can stretch, manipulate and cut our decals to shape with a craft knife and they will NOT tear? This shows the durability of our screen printed enamel decals as opposed to other digitally printed decals.

In addition, some companies are trying to pass off ceramic decals as “fusing decals.” Our decals truly are made as “fusing decals” with extra steps taken to make sure they are as durable as possible. Other companies who claim decals are “low to high fire” will not produce the consistent, vibrant results that AAE Glass decals will.

The enamel coloring we use is low fire enamel. When fired to the correct temperature of 1034-1054 degrees, a rich deep color is present after firing. The higher the decal is fired after this range, the color will slowly burn out. This is one reason why “low to high fire” decals come out gray.

Lastly, the artwork is done in house and is original work created by Tanya Veit. Anyone who has taken Tanya's Extreme Fusing Workshop has learned how durable AAE Glass enamel decals are, as well as many tricks to manipulate these decals and create beautiful glass jewelry (Our decals can be painted as well, see above).

We feel it is important to educate our customers as much as possible. We want you to work with the best available tools to ensure you are creating the best, most durable glass jewelry possible.

my name is amber ballard, and i've been a lampwork glass artist for almost 12 years now. the majority of my home based art business is centered around offering focal beads and bead sets to jewelry designers who like to incorporate glass beads into their designs, but each holiday season i strive to offer the most unique gift items which highlight my glasswork in a new and exciting way.

Published glass artist Tanya Veit of AAE Glass presents a 2 day workshop teaching advanced fusing techniques to create gallery worthy fused glass jewelry. Anna has been a friend of AAE Glass for a few years and makes beautiful glass art.

My name is Anna Price. I worked in stained glass, panels and lamps, for around 20 years, and never had any interest in fusing glass. Then, while shopping on ebay, I discovered dichroic glass and it was love at first sight. After the first few of my jewelry creations were bought literally off my neck, I thought, Anna, you just might have something here! That's when my business, Aesthetic Designs, was born.

I started out selling on Ebay, and my first face to face selling experience was on a card table in an un-airconditioned church gymnasium. I really liked being able to talk and interact with customers and gradually built up a schedule of shows which I do every year. Now, I sell at art and crafts fairs, have a few pieces in several art galleries, sell from my studio and have an active WEBSITE.

This overview of my business wouldn't be complete without mentioning that Tanya's silver settings and the enamel decals have been responsible for a 30% surge in my sales. They have also brought a lot of fun back to fusing and enlarged the creative possibilities for my work. I'm taking Tanya's "Extreme Fusing Workshop" this weekend, and literally can't wait! Cape Coral Florida and AAE Glass

I wanted to share some information about Cape Coral, Florida and what a great part of the country it really is, both to live and vacation in. Cape Coral, Florida is located over the bridge from Fort Myers, north of Naples and about 80 miles south of Tampa and St. Petersburg, on the Gulf of Mexico, in southwest Florida. Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is located a short cab ride from the downtown Cape.

Cape Coral is know as a "Waterfront Wonderland" with more than 400 miles of canals. That is more canals than any other city in the world. The canals were dug in the late 1950's and 60's and can be found everywhere you look. They were constructed similar to the way many cities construct streets. A map of the canal system in Cape Coral rivals a road map in many cities.

Cape Coral is centrally located between beautiful beaches on all sides. Fort Myers beach is 10 minutes from the downtown Cape and is a very popular tourist attraction. Fort Myers beach has been a vacation destination for families and young couples for decades. If it is good food and relaxation you are looking for, Fort Myers Beach is perfect.

The downtown Cape has its own unique character. Along Cape Coral Parkway you will find numerous restaurants, art shops, any kind of food you have a taste for and of course several watering holes for when you get parched walking in the beautiful Florida climate. This is where the AAE Glass teaching studio is located. Unless you want to venture off to other parts of southwest Florida, there is no reason to rent a car. Everything you need is within walking distance from the studio including the Holiday Inn located 2 blocks away in the heart of downtown Cape Coral.

Speaking of the climate, Cape Coral, Florida records 355 days of sunshine per year. Quick math tells me that only leaves 10 days per year of cloud cover. Now in the summer months it tends to be humid and hot. During the summer months it will rain just about every day for 30-60 minutes around 4-5pm. It is hot and sunny the other 23 hours per day. From November through April the average temperature in the Cape is a perfect 78 degrees. During the summer months of May through October the average temperature rises to 90 degrees. For those looking for an escape from the cold winter months up north, Cape Coral is your answer.

The last feature I want to touch on is the huge art festival held in the downtown Cape on the 2nd January of every year. Attendance at this festival tops 100,000 people with over 300 artists displaying their work. Art of all mediums is definitely a major driving force in Cape Coral. I have met numerous great painters, sculptors and glass artists in the Cape. It is a very tight knit art community and everyone works together to build the art community as a whole.

Color Me Bad Fusing Decals and BluDragonfly Glass

AAE Glass wants to thank Christine Wilson of BluDragonfly for displaying our Color Me Bad decal sheets in such a good light. These decals can be painted by you! Who doesn't want to add their own touch or flare to their wearable dichroic glass art pieces? Thanks Christine.

A few years ago I took a fusing glass class at a local studio and fell in love with fusing. After that class I came home and started experimenting with different techniques. I discovered Tanya's website - AAEGlass.com and her decals. After that the direction of my work changed!

All my fused glass jewelry is created in my home studio. All the pieces are started from scratch – I cut out the glass and create the design using dichroic glass and custom-made frit combinations. In some of my pendants I select a decal that best compliments the colors in the pendant. All of the pieces require several firings. Along with fused glass jewelry I also make lampwork (glass) beads and incorporate them into jewelry.

In July 2011 I took Tanya Veit's Extreme Fusing Workshop in Denver. This is the best class that I have ever taken and nothing can compare with the information on fusing that Tanya is willing to share. Recently I have been experimenting with the Color Me Bad decals. They are a lot of fun and allow your imagination to run wild playing with different colors. They look exceptionally dramatic on the dichroic backgrounds. In August 2011 I participated in the 2011 Fairplay Colorado Bead and Fiber Show. My "Pelican" pendant placed 3rd in the juried competition for Jewelry/Wearables.

I will participating in Art Shows this fall in Arvada, Greeley, and Windsor CO. I am a member of the Rocky Mountain Flameworkersorganization which is a group of local glass artists who meet once a month. I am also a Self Representing Artist (SRA #126). I currently have 2 websites for my jewelry ETSY and BLUDRAGONFLY. My work is also available at the Mountain Blown Glass Shop in Estes Park, CO.

I can't thank Tanya and AAE Glass enough for the workshops and the wonderful selection of decals and dichroic glass available on their website. They have added a whole new and exciting dimension to my art.

Ragsfest at Rainbow Artistic Glass in Omaha

AAEGlass would like to thank Dick Baines of Rainbow Artistic Glass and his family for opening up their studio and home to us this week in Omaha, Nebraska. We really felt at home as we got to meet so many great studio owners and artists. We would also like to thank Joanna Vitale, president of RAGSfest and owner of Art Glass Connection for including us in such a great event, as well as all of the members who took us in and made us feel a part of their mission.

The vibe in the air this weekend was one of progressive thinking and helping the glass industry as a whole. As stated previously, times are changing and the great retailers we met this weekend all saw that and shared ideas of how to grow the industry so everyone benefits, most of all the artists who choose to work with glass.

Weekend with Ed Hoy's International

I wanted to share my experience this weekend with the great people at Ed Hoy's International. I was lucky enough to be invited to participate in a weekend devoted to new products and the glass industry as a whole. Maria, Margarette and Ed himself, put on a fantastic event that not only showcased new products in the glass industry, but they also shared ideas on how to grow the glass industry as a whole. They are on the right track to adapt and succeed with the constant changes glass artists are facing every day. Lets face it, times are changing and unless we change with them, there is a good chance we can fall by the wayside. They are doing everything they can to provide both vendors and artists with the tools we need to succeed. I thank them for that.

Here is a bit about Amy and her work.

I enrolled in a glass fusing course at my local community college five years ago. Though I was already familiar with stained glass, the art of glass fusing intrigued me with the infinite possibilities it offered. I have a background in painting and metal-smithing, but fused glass has since become my medium of choice.

The new techniques I learned after taking Tanya Veit's Extreme Fusing Workshop at Ed Hoy’s International broadened the spectrum of my design potential in a fantastic and exciting manner! Previously, my designs were achieved by extensive layering and the incorporation of “boiled” glass. The principles of hand etching Tanya teaches gave me the option to create my own images and to tweak my glass collages with elements that can’t be mass produced. I feel that even the smallest pendant should be a showpiece…a miniature painting in glass, if you will. Tanya’s Extreme Fusing Workshop helped me realize this belief to an even greater extent!

My work is sold at several boutiques and at 404 Main Gallery in Bloomington, IL, but I primarily sell at fine arts and crafts shows in Illinois. Here is my CURRENT SHOW SCHEDULE.

Christine Wilson of Blu Dragonfly has been a friend of AAE GLASS for a long time. She recently took Tanya Veit's Extreme Glass Fusing Workshop in Denver Colorado. These are 2 of the pieces she made. She has several beautiful dichroic glass pieces in her ETSY STORE. Take a moment to learn a little more about Christine and her dichroic glass art.

Here is a bit about Christine:

I originally started out making lampwork jewelry. One day I decided to take a fusing glass class at a local studio to see what it was all about. I was hooked and started creating fused glass jewelry in my home studio. All the pieces are started from scratch – I cut out the glass and create the design using dichroic glass and custom-made frit combinations. In some of my pendants I select a decal that best fits the colors in the pendant. Some of the pieces require several firings. My jewelry consists of earrings, barrettes, bracelets and pendants. I have been buying my decals from AAE glass and was so excited when Tanya's Extreme Fusing Workshop was coming to Denver. This is the best class I have ever taken and what I learned has expanded my horizons in the fusing glass jewelry arena! I highly recommend this class to anyone who has the opportunity to take it.

I originally started giving my jewelry as gifts to family and friends as well as selling to my co-workers. The jewelry grew in popularity and I set up an Etsy website - www.BluDragonfly.etsy.com. My jewelry has been given as gifts all over the world. I also do local art shows and craft fairs in Northern Colorado and the Denver area.
